Location

Located in the North Western region of India, expanded at such a huge area geographically sharing a border with our neighbors Pakistan, containing the only desert of India, Rajasthan is popularly known as the Incredible State of India and it actually stands by its name. There are so many tourist destinations there that you need atleast 15-20 days to explore even the major ones.

The Great Thar Desert

The first thing that comes upto everyone’s mind when we hear about Rajasthan is the Thar desert. Though it’s true that it’s the home for one of the largest deserts of the world, only a few districts of Rajasthan actually is covered by Thar desert like Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer and Sri Ganganagar. But the entire state experiences a very hot climate almost the whole year and receives very less rainfall even during winters. So if you’re looking for a perfect destination during monsoon, there wouldn’t be a much better destination than Rajasthan.

A Beautiful Hill Station: Mt Abu

In this type of state would you believe there exists a beautiful hill station which is a very popular honeymoon destination of India. Mt Abu at a height of 5650 ft above the sea level is the highest point of Rajasthan which usually experiences a very cold climate and one would never feel they’re in Rajasthan actually. This is actually very famous for Kasta Rabdi, a really tasty sweet available on the streets of Mt Abu.WhatsApp Image 2024 09 26 at 11.37.24 2 scaled

The Deserts

If you’re someone who actually wishes to explore the proper desert, then there would be no better option than Jaisalmer. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in India. The journey from Jodhpur/Barmer/Bikaner till here itself runs through the desert, which means the road passes right through the huge desert all around making the journey absolutely beautiful.WhatsApp Image 2024 09 26 at 11.37.25 scaled

Jaisalmer is popularly called as the Golden City, because the entire city is painted with Golden color because of the color of marble used even the beautiful fort is colored the same. There are many sand camps and sand resorts outside Jaisalmer where many activities such as camel rides, parasailing, desert jeep safari, stay options as well. So one would properly get an amazing experience of authentic desert experience. Moving forward, there lies the Indo-Pak border after Tanot where civilians can go upto particular point.

Forts of Rajasthan

The other amazing thing about Rajasthan is the beautiful forts. There are many forts in the whole of Rajasthan and even few cities have multiple ones in the same city. Many movies have been shot in these forts and mostly all the palace scenes are usually shot here. The Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer Fort in Jaisalmer, Junagarh Fort in Bikaner, Chittorgarh Fort are major ones.

Udaipur is popularly called the City of Palaces because of numerous ones all around the city. There are many beautiful forts as well. Also the Udaipur palace is a different experience which involves boating in the famous lake of Udaipur, Lake Pichola.

Ajmer

Ajmer is very famous for dargas and is one of the famous pilgrim spots of Muslims where people from all around India visit this place every year. This is also one of the largest cities of Rajasthan after Jaipur. Also a famous tourist destination as well.

Other Tourist Destination

It would be a very long list to note down all the major tourist destinations of Rajasthan. Jodhpur, also known as the Blue City of India is very popular for its beautiful fort and also a major city of Rajasthan. Another gem, the beautiful Hawamahal, located at the Pink City of India, Jaipur is another lovely town to explore the beauty of Rajasthan.

Local People and the Dishes

Apart from the tourist attractions, you find a variety of mouth watering dishes all over the state with a lot of dessert and lassis as well. Even the people of Rajasthan are very humble and polite towards the tourists. You’d feel as if you’re touring your home state due to the level of friendliness and bonding with the local people.

Conclusion

This should definitely be in your bucket list and summers aren’t the best time to visit Rajasthan due to intense heat from March to May. Again this would be very shocking but winters in Rajasthan are extremely extremely cold so try to avoid visiting here in the months of December, January, February. But the other times this should be good to go without any troubles having a lifetime experience.
