Introduction
Undoubtedly Spiti Valley has been my personal favorite destination after traveling the whole of India. The breathtaking mountains all around, the magical landscapes, the elegant culture, lush snowfall in winters, humongous mountains, adventurous roads, high altitude mountain passes and what not. It’s hard to describe the beauty of this valley with so many astonishing things.
Located on the Eastern side of Himachal Pradesh right before Tibet, this has been a remote travel destination till a few years back, but now the popularity has increased to a very great extent and many adventure lovers visit here along with Ladakh.
Reasons to Visit Spiti Valley
So here are a few reasons why you should visit Spiti Valley and if it matches your taste then checkout my other blogs to get the detailed guide to Spiti and book your tickets soon.
Experience Unreal Snowfall
If you are someone who loves snowfall, then Spiti is the right destination without a second thought. Make sure you plan your trip in winters and also the weather information before planning. Usually all the villages and the roads connecting them are entirely covered with snowfall during December, January, February to such an extent that roads might be closed due to heavy snow.
Proper destination for Bike Enthusiasts
If you’re someone who loves riding and adventure then once again, Welcome to Spiti Valley. As described in my previous blogs, the roads are built and maintained by BRO in dangerous terrain all around the mountains and at very high altitudes. Some parts are very narrow with mountains on one side and deep ravines on other. Even the views all around the journey are truly unreal.
Experience the essence of Buddhist Culture
As the valley is just beside Tibet, almost every family follows Buddhism and hence you find Monasteries in every village with Prayer Flags, Prayer Wheel everywhere. Even one can stay in some Monasteries, have food with monks, involve with them in prayers and experience the real Monk life in Kee Monastery, Dhankar Monastery, Tabo Monastery
Humongous Mountains & Sky High Villages
As the entire valley lies in Himalayan Range of Mountains, the entire area is covered with gigantic mountains ranging even up to 23,000 ft. Hence you find all villages and tourist spots are fairly very high altitude. Kaza, the HQ (12,400ft), Kunzum Pass(15,300 ft), Komic (World’s Highest Village connected with Inhabitable Road-15,200 ft), Chandratal Lake(14,100 ft) and many other places lie almost on the similar height. If you love experiencing the weather conditions, fabulous views of Breathtaking mountains then this is the right place.
Photographic Adventure
If you wanna fill your Camera Storage with the best of the best views of the world, I’d recommend Spiti then any other place. It’s definitely a kind of place which is totally made up for photography, due to the magnificent landscapes all around and vast and vast area of cold deserts. I bet no matter what camera you take, the elegance of the place adds unreal beauty to the picture.
Checkout the Highest Things of the World, not just India
There are many such destinations in Spiti, which are actually the highest in the world. The Highest Post Office of the World(14,400 ft.) – Hikkim, The Highest Village of the World Connected with Motorable Road(15027 ft.) – Komic, Highest Bridge of Asia(13,244 ft.) – Chichham Bridge, Oldest Functional Monastery of India – Tabo Monastery, The Highest Peak of Himachal Pradesh – Reo Purgyil(22,500 ft.) are very notable spots which have set records for standing at the tallest heights.
The Magical Landscapes
This is something which caught my heart completely and sets Spiti apart after traveling all the 28 states of India. The cold desert spread across vast and vast areas where more than 90% of the land has never been touched by anyone till now adds utter beauty to this place. No matter how well I describe it or show my clicks, you’ll get it only once you go and watch it through your eyes. The mountain patterns, the changing color of the mountains with weather and sunlight and what not.
Spend your time gazing stars not reels
If you’re someone who loves Stargazing then this is the right place. Many areas of Spiti are extremely beautiful during the night as the stars appear very beautiful and this is something which you should never miss on your trip to Spiti Valley.
